Happy Birthday Dirk!

4/27/07 We celebrated Dirk's birthday on Friday night at the local Japanese Steakhouse with the kids, my mom and Andrea. Our chef was quite a character, and a good time was had by all! Dirk enjoyed his mango ice cream dessert and all of his gifts (most of which had a birdseed/birdfeeder theme)!

Dirk and I continued his birthday celebration on Saturday, his actual birthday, by taking a short trip to visit our good friends Liz and Adam at their new home in Virginia Beach. The weather was beautiful, their new house is gorgeous, and it was great being able to visit with our former neighbors!

Pampered Chef Fundraiser

4/21/07 Team Bosom Buddies hosted a Pampered Chef Fundraiser for the Avon Walk. Here is Denise, one of our team members, preparing some of the food. A great time was had by all, and it looks like we were able to raise a good bit of money for our team -- yeah!!

Redskins Cheerleaders

4/21/07 Dirk & I attended a party thrown by a neighbor down the street. They had 2 of the Redskins cheerleaders in attendance, and they were expecting some former Redskins players, but we had to leave before the players arrived. It was quite a party!

Happier Times

Just thinking of all of our friends and family this week especially. Hope you are all well. Praying for each of you that God continues to watch over all of you. It has been a long week and an extremely long day. Bomb threats at both of the high schools my 3 big ones attend. Everything turned out okay, and the kids are handling it well, but it again begs the question, "Why?" Love to all -- Barb

4/19/07 Team Bosom Buddies hosted a 2nd Cici's Fundraiser night. One of the guests had a Ralph Lauren polo pony tattooed on his leg -- Erin couldn't resist taking a picture. We raised $295 -- yeah!

Congrats? Alexander!

4/11/07 Alexander found out this morning that he won 1st place at the Virginia State FBLA competition for Visual Basic. He now gets to compete at the national level in Chicago in June. [Just a reminder that Alexander has never taken Visual Basic... Daddy suggested that the computer programming thing must be in the blood...] Congrats Alexander!

Alexander and I spent today on the road driving to Atlanta for the National Robotics Competition. It starts tomorrow and wraps up on Friday evening. Hopefully his team will do well. At the very least it will be a great learning experience. Alexander and I are just freaking out from being on the 34th floor of the hotel with an open atrium and glass elevators! My ears popped in the elevator! I forgot the digital camera so we'll see what kind of pix I can get of this event. There are banners throughout the city of Atlanta welcoming the robotics teams, and there are [geeky-looking] kids everywhere! Should be a fun couple of days!

Cherry Blossoms in Bloom

4/7/07 Despite the below freezing tempatures and brisk winds, we went to DC to see the cherry blossoms before they were all blown away. The blossoms were beautiful as usual, but the kids spent most of their time in the bathroom under the Jefferson Memorial (there was heat in there)! Barkley enjoyed seeing all of the people and picking up any foods they dropped!

University of Richmond

4/2/07 We visited the University of Richmond today. Both Brianna and Alexander liked it. It is an impressive school! Looks like Alexander will apply this fall. It would be nice to have him so close (only 1 1/2 hour drive)!

USO Operation CARE Package

3/31/07 We enjoyed volunteering at Christmas so we volunteered again! The girls and I helped stuff 23,000 camo kits! It's unfortunate that we have so many military personnel overseas, but it is also good to know that they get a little something to show them that we are thinking of them!
